When trying to activate a copy of your Windows 7, it returns with an error code 0xC004F061.

Follow the steps below to fix this problem. This fix applies to all versions of Windows 7:

  1. Click on Windows Start.
  2. Open RUN.
  3. Type REGEDIT and click on OK. This will open the registry editor.
  4. Go to this path in your registry editor:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/
    WINDOWS/CURRENTVERSION/SETUP/OOBE

  5. In the right pane, double click on Mediabootinstall.
  6. Change value from 1 to 0.
  7. Click on OK.
  8. Close the registry editor window.
  9. Click on Windows Start.
  10. Go to All Programs.
  11. Open Accessories folder.
  12. Right click on Command Prompt.
  13. Select Run as Administrator. (Click on YES if the User Account Control pops-up)
  14. Type this command: slmgr /rearm
  15. Click OK on the pop-up dialog box.
  16. Restart the computer and try to activate again your Windows 7.
